Self improvement blog focused on better living in today’s technology-centric workplace

A lot of the writing I do here is focused on developing better living techniques, but the full value only blossoms when new habits are stuck to. Take exercising for instance; it’s only beneficial when a person works out on a regular schedule and doesn’t give up after a couple times at the gym. The same goes for sculpting better ways to live your professional life.
I’d like for you to take a few minutes to read a recent post at LifeHack.org containing 18 tricks to make new habits stick. Be disciplined and enjoy a better day!

Great advice! Most of us are great at starting things but lukewarm when it comes to following through. Why? Because discipline is hard while starting is fun. I guess the trick is to marry the discipline with the fun.
Have a great day!

Right back at ya, Mike!
I’m a professor who studies bad habits and how to change them. The “18 Tricks” have a lot of good in them. I especially like the “start simple” trick. My research, and that of others, shows that people can get rather ambitious. Disappointment can follow. Better to set a reasonable goal and meet it.
(Forgive extra post.) The tricks about setting triggers and staying consistent also really nicely line up with the scientific literature. If I had to pick three of the 18, I would pick “start simple,” “be consistent,” “set triggers.”
So good to have you on the site, professor! Thanks for your feedback, we all look forward to your future comments.
